Haldi and mehendi invitations: what to write, what to wear and how to design them

What every haldi or mehendi invitation needs

• The name of the function and the day, with the start time.
• The venue, as a map button.
• What to wear: yellow for the haldi, or any colour that you are happy to get stained, and comfortable clothes for the mehendi.
• Who it is for: the whole guest list, or the closest family and friends.
• A note on timing, such as lunch served or the mehendi artists arriving early.

Wording ideas

Haldi: "Come in your yellows and your oldest clothes: the haldi is on, and nobody leaves clean. 11 AM at the Grand Palace lawns."

Mehendi: "An afternoon of mehendi, music and chaat. Come at 3 PM, and let the artists decorate your hands."

Both: "Two bright days before the big one. Join us for the haldi on Thursday and the mehendi on Friday."

Design that sets the mood

Bright yellows and marigold orange work for the haldi, and greens and warm reds for the mehendi. A card with falling marigold petals or a small surprise, like a date you scratch off, makes the invitation part of the fun. The Haldi Sunshine template is made for this.
